Hi Coastfesters,
Following initial discussions with both Wyong and Gosford councils
and with a number of people across the community the CoastFest
directors and Brackets and Jam committee, have decided we, as a
community organisation, are not in a position with both available time
and $$ to produce a CoastFest during 2009.
Whilst we are grateful, and touched, that a number of community members
offered to provide $$ to get the event off the ground again, it was
considered not enough to get it started and a great deal of
responsibility to take the offered $$, begin the planning process and
then possibly reaching a point some months into that process where we
would have to consider event viability.
Another factor affecting the decision is the plethora of festivals
currently being presented which will compete for attendance and
available $$ not only from the festival patrons but from the grants and
sponsorship available.
We also believe that for the sanity and credibility of the Brackets
organisation we should focus on our core business (our monthly events),
which will enable us to continue to pay off previous CoastFest
creditors and consolidate on our existing strengths, by putting all of
our energy into some of the great things happening with Brackets and Jam including a new venue in Newcastle and monthly Artisan Markets at the Central Coast North Event.
There are also regular drum circles happening all over the Central Coast - details are also on the Brackets and jam Website.
However…
at this stage we have tentatively booked Point Wolstoncroft for
October 2010, and if the situation, level of commitment and support is
significant we will reinstate the Festival next year. Also tune in to
the new Brackets and Jam website
where you can find details of other great events happening at Central
Coast and other Brackets venues, including a new crew in Newcastle.
Thanks again to everybody for your support in this most difficult of decisions, please stay in touch.
