Join Francoise and Jean-Jacques Angenieux for an energetic dance workshop based on Afro-Jazz and Contemporary dance techniques to live drums and a blend of African and Cuban rhythms. Fast paced but adapted for all abilities and levels of dancers.
“The Forest” is a response to the Regional Identity Project whose idea was to connect the Land to the Artist and see what artistic or spiritual response would evolve. Francoise was a professional dancer with the Sydney Dance Company for 11 years, and now calls the Central Coast home.

idance Central Coast is a local hip hop studio , with a young and funky crew performing all types of hip hop including popping, locking, breaking, dance hall and crumping. Dancing to all types of popular hip hop music, idance will inspire not only the young at heart, but the young to old, to funk it out!

Nesian Fusion
Josie and Lisl
Josie and Lisl’s Nesian Fusion’s dance is influenced strongly from their father’s beautiful Pacific Island heritage, their mother’s background in bellydance and their own interest in hip hop, which they fuse together to create their style of dance. Their dances consist of traditional ‘meke’ style (slow dance) and the fast hip shaking, drum beat, booty bumping! Josie and Lisi’s dance style is fun, fresh and vibrant. High energy and exciting, come with us to the islands and help us to shake it, shake it, shake it!
* Nesian Fusion will also perform at the Sails stage, facilitate a workshop, and demonstrate how to scrape a coconut!!
Balinese Dance

The Balinese and Javanese cultures have strong connections to their dances, as the dance portrays myths and legends. The dancer represents a character, and moves with the grace of a butterfly, the beauty of a peacock, or the glide of a bird.
With Gamelan, traditional cultural music, and the colours and ornaments worn in the costume, helps to portray the spirit of Bali and Java. Bali has a strong influence from the Chinese and Hindu cultures while Java has a strong influence from the Moslem religion.

Youth Contemporary Dance
This Central Coast dance group was formed in Feb, 2008 by talented dance students from all over the coast. Their first dance performance will be detailing the emotions of teenagers, and choreographed from the emotional point of view that is confusion.
All the movement is inspired by the circle. Also being performed today is a piece called “Love”.

“Love on a Dance Floor” is a fusion of sensual bellydance and energetic modern dance. It takes the audience on a mysterious journey of what’s hidden, through sweet, sensual seduction to a passionate explosion of joy and happiness. Following this performance by the Rainbow Dance Studio, Micheala will run a workshop – Elemental Bellydance – Playful dance using the 4 elements of Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Dance is a quintessence of love that connects them all.
Chinese Dance
Central Coast Chinese Assn.
The embodiment of Chinese art and culture, this group will present dances with graceful movements, traditional costumes and music, and props such as ribbons, fans and umbrellas. They will perform several dances, with interludes of music with the Chinese lute, called ‘Pi Pa’.
Tariiq Turuk
and the Dance of Life
The Dance of Life Gypsy Bellydance Troupe and Tariiq Turuq Arabic Fusion live band are a collaboration developed between the extended Dance of Life family to produce dance with live music. Playing music from the Middle East and Eastern Europe, the group combine traditional and fusion dancing with traditional and modern instrumentation in an exciting and innovative way.
