inrhythm-group-drumming   This years stomping ground, proudly sponsored by InRhythm and is open to drumming, fire twirling, percussion, plus free jamming. A space where all are invited to take a rest from the thinking mind and open to the feeling of being engaged in rhythm.

There will be introductory workshops as well as sessions from many different cultures including. African, Indonesian, Japanese, The Middle East, and Latin.

The Drop

Living in their Rhythms is a creature born of the Mother Africa, spiced with ambamerica!
Playing high energy percussive dance grooves, The Drop take you on a trance inducing journey. They combine contemporary didgeridoo with chants and rhythms inspired by African, Cuban & Brazilian music.

Experience the rich culture of West Africa with the professional Senegalese artists Fode Mane and Yacou Mbaye as they present their energetic, exhilarating and uplifting rhythms and dances.  For an unforgettable experience with explosive, inspirational and infectious rhythms, get up and dance!

Fire Empire

Fire Empire are an energetic and hypnotic dance group that perform with the sacred art of fire.
They’ll be sure to get your heart racing and your blood pumping as their trails of fire blaze circles through the air to the beat of drums.
This Group of five’s talents involve the use of many different fire tools combined with body movement, fire breathing and fire manipulation to achieve a truly spectacular feast for the eyes!

Contemporary hand drummming
Phil King
King Rhythm is no ordinary drummer. His unique way of playing Djembe & other percussive drums with today’s contemporary music has impressed, inspired & rocked audiences both here & overseas. This year KingRhythm is offering some insights into the way he plays his drum, where he will demonstrate simple techniques to anyone wishing to ‘let themselves go’ on a drum.

Middle Eastern Drumming
Tarek
Tarek Sawires is an Egyptian born percussionist. He will take us on a journey through Middle Eastern rhythms. Tarek builds his own clay and hide drums to create unique instruments and sounds.

World Drumming
The Rhythm Hunters
Rhythmic madness from Japan to Indonesia. Experience two diverse drum cultures with The Rhythm Hunters. One group will learn the basics of taiko based stroke making and a long Japanese influenced rhythm. The other group will complement this with fast interlocking Sumatran frame drum patterns.

Free Expression Sessions
Come and enjoy the creative free expression in this open jam session. Bring your drums, percussion and fire toys, connect to the rhythm and let yourself go!

Procession Sessions
This workshop will focus on the 5pm procession and festival finale. All are welcome to join these sessions and become part of the all-in community procession. We will travel from the stomping ground around the festival ending at the main stage for the spectacular finale!
