Peter Andrews

A racehorse breeder and farmer, Peter Andrews has been ignored, laughed at and ridiculed for 30 years. Now Peter is being credited with extraordinary success in converting degraded and salt ravaged farms into fertile, drought resistant properties.

Supporters of Peter claim he has done what science has failed to do- he has restored creeks and wetlands to their natural processes and relationships, delivering economic and environmental sustainability to Australian landscapes.

He is now widely described as a man who reads and understands our natural landscape better than most scientists and the remarkable results of what has been termed “Natural Sequence Farming” techniques can be achieved cheaply, simply and quickly.

Peter was the subject of an episode ABC’s Australian Story that was voted as the most popular ever. He is also the subject of a new book on his remarkable life, heartbreaking challenges and extraordinary achievements. This book, “ Back form the Brink” will b published by ABC books on October 13th.

Make sure you do not miss the opportunity to hear what can bring us back form environmental catastrophe to future sustainablity.

 ocean__coastal_care_initiative_small_res   Ocean and Coastal Care Initiatives (OCCI)

Ocean and Coastal Care Initiatives (OCCI) was formed by the community in 1999 as a response to concerns about the degradation of local marine environment. The coastal environments of the Central Coast, including our rocky foreshores, lagoons, rivers and lakes are sensitive and special places. They are also under threat from a variety of sources and need special conservation attention by the community so that future generations can enjoy their beauty and biodiversity.

    The Community Environment Network (CEN)

The Community Environment Network (CEN) was formed in 1997 as an over arching body to support individuals and groups in Lake Macquarie, Wyong and Gosford who are working for the environment.Membership of the CEN is open to both individuals and other groups across the region. CEN is a community based non-profit organisation that meets monthly (except December). The CEN employs a number of part time staff however, most of our activities are carried out by volunteers.

Saving Tasmanias Southern Forests

Tasmania's Southern Forests; still Wild, still Threatened We are a network of Greens politicians, students, grass roots environmental organisations and individual forest activists.  We have come together to raise awareness about the dire threats facing Southern Tasmania's unprotected  forests.

A number of dedicated people have created films, art, music, workshops and information packages, to communicate the seriousness of Tasmania's current situation to the World. These materials have the potential to influence the fate of these forests and will require widespread distribution and passionate advocacy. This project is part of a broader campaign strategy to mobilise the 85% of Australians that have stated that the Federal Government should intervene and protect Tasmania's old growth forests. It is in this spirit that we seek your attention and support at this time. We will be able to provide films that have been created;

Campaign – Tasmania’s Southern Forests` Tasmania’s Southern Forests still wild, still threatened and still needing your help!

Tasmania’s Southern Forests are still wild and still threatened. Wilderness, old growth and ancient rainforest are still being destroyed at the hands of the woodchip industry.

Tasmania’s Southern Forests are still wild and still threatened. At their heart lie the World Heritage value forests of the Weld, Styx and the Upper Florentine valleys. In these valleys and other areas of high conservation value, ancient rainforest and tall old growth Eucalypt forest are still being clearfelled and woodchipped at an alarming rate. Prime Minister Howard failed to protect Tassie’s old growth forests and they are now faced with an increased threat. There are proposals to build a massive pulp mill in the north, a woodfired power station in the south and increase export woodchip volumes. The ancient ecosystems that are Tasmania’s Southern Forests will not be able to sustain this assault, threatened plants and animals are faced with the real threat of extinction. To stand by and do nothing is to be complicit in the destruction.
