"Roots Rising" is an exciting and innovative opportunity for young roots based artists to find a place in the music industry. Open to all emerging artists and bands under 21 years of age playing original music in the folk, world, blues & general roots genres.
If you have a demo of original material and have a passion to advance your career, now’s the time to rise up and be counted!
From all applicants, 6 finalists will be selected to perform on Sunday at Coastfest, September 7, 2008. All finalists will receive Sunday festival entry; program, media and web exposure with the opportunity to share the stage with major national touring artists.
The overall winner will also get to perform on the main stage as part of the festival closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
Rock Cave Music, Roots Rising sponsors, are also providing a fantastic prize package valued at $3000 that includes: 30 hours studio rehearsal time, 20 hours of recording/mastering time to produce your CD EP. Also direct music industry management mentoring on gaining management and agency representation; booking gigs; APRA; ABN’s and taxation.
Applications are open to any configuration (solo, duo, band) provided all members are 21 years of age or under.
